Tour Day 2: Uforia in Ottawa
We arrived in Ottawa a few hours before the show, parked the van and decided to walk over to Parliament Hill. It was a beautiful day! We sat outside on the grass for a bit and made some live videos on Facebook. I took some photos in front of the parliament building featuring the eternal flame. We headed back to the van as our meter was running out and drove over to the venue. The guys were playing at Live! On Elgin that night with Peaks, Double Experience, and Mad Violet. We made some great friends that night, everyone got along well and the show was awesome. After the show we all hung out for a bit by the merch booths, and all the band members signed the back of the poster we made for the show that night. (It is currently up on our wall :))
Ian and Brock from Double Experience were kind enough put us up for the night. They have a sweet spot set up above their garage for when bands from out of town need a place to stay - called The Faxtory. We got ourselves settled in, and then went outside for to chat with the guys. It was super foggy out, and I looove fog. I walked around taking some photos while the guys had a deep conversation about the music world. Eventually we said good night and head upstairs to sleep.
The previous night in Oshawa, Andy had slept in the room next to ours. But this night, he was right next to us, and I got to hear the loud rumble that is Andy snoring. It landed him the nick-name "El Snoro". I was actually worried for his life as the sounds coming out of him were not human. Snoring makes me rage so I got up and tried to move him, but he sleeps like a log. Then Michael got up and tried to help me move him on to his side, but Andy is a big boy, so this was not easy. Eventually we just left him as he seemed to be okay, I just put in some headphones and tried to drown out the noise. I'm a light sleeper so I wake up easily. I knew there would be some nights that would be difficult, overall I still got some sleep in. There are no windows in The Faxtory, it was really dark in there, no morning light to wake us up, which was kind of cool. Once we all woke up, Ian and Brock brought us all coffee - they're the best! Then we set up a space outside to do an interview with them - Dan asking the questions while Eric films. We met their dog, Django, who was the biggest, roundest, cutest, and friendliest dog. Then he got in his truck and left. We stopped by a river in Brockville for some quick pics and a pee, and then began our drive to Montreal!
